The Ram Foundation of South Carolina is a foundation of provision and service that is greatly concerned with the academic, social, and wellness needs of underserved youth.

Operating since 2009, the mission of the RAM Foundation was created to address the academic, social and wellness needs of youth and their families in the Pinehurst community and surrounding areas. The primary objective of the RAM Foundation’s Reading, Arts, Mathematics Summer Enrichment Program is to:

Offer a safe haven for children during the summer months while guardians are employed or seeking employment. The rationale for this component is to give the students a place to find comfort, support, safety, and fun from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm in the afternoon.

Efforts assist the students with maintaining learned information from the regular academic term; thus, combating the suggested 1/3rd of information lost during the summer months of inactivity (myschools.com). Information is taught to encourage growth during the summer resulting in the students' not having to work so hard upon the entry of the next academic year. The rationale for this component is to provide time designated for academic interventions as well as other activities aimed at educating the whole child.
In order to divert the many obstacles that inhibit academic and social growth, particular attention is paid to the physical, social, emotional, and psychological wellness of the students. The RAM program serves only healthy meals and snacks furnished by community partners. Activities are devised to combat obesity and to improve the conduct of students inside and outside of the school. Students develop healthy eating habits to fight against childhood obesity and lower the nearly $14.3 billion spent treating obesity-related illnesses each year (healthycommunitieshealthyfuture.org).
Exposed to educational, fun opportunities through field trips to museums locally and the surrounding states: North Carolina and Georgia. The rationale for this component is to give the students excursions that will introduce them to elements of society where their awareness is limited. These excursions give the students a few moments away from their routine and broaden the students' horizons of general knowledge.
